Our appointment system
From 31st March, ALL APPOINTMENT REQUESTS to see a GP will be triaged, and you will need to fill in a simple e-consultation form. This will allow us to better understand your needs and enable us to signpost you to the right service.

- Many minor illnesses can be managed by over-the-counter remedies and are of short duration. Please can we ask that you have tried to self-manage your illness before you try to book an appointment.
- Our phone line can be very busy, please can we politely ask that you call after 1oam for routine requests such as test results.
These are the types of appointments we offer as a practice
High Priority on the day appointments
If your request is high priority, you will be signposted to the correct clinician. Your appointment will be a telephone call first and if the clinician wants to see you face to face, they will make you a face to face appointment.
High Priority appointments are available every day during practice working hours and the amount available depends on how many clinicians are available.
Routine Doctor’s appointments
Routine doctor’s appointments are available two week in advance. We have telephone calls and face to face appointments available.
Nurse’s appointments
You can book an appointment to see a Nurse 2 weeks in advance. They are face to face appointments but can be a telephone request if needed and appropriate.
Long term condition review appointments
All patients with a long-term condition should have an annual Long Term Condition review. The first part of this is usually with a health care assistant who will carry out a few tasks such as taking your blood pressure etc. The second part is usually with a Practice Nurse who will go through your results with you.

Extended Hours appointments evening/ weekend
There are face to face and telephone appointments available in the evening and on a Saturday here at The Richmond Hill Practice and Yarnspinners in Nelson.
